Favorite Music mainly classic and opera, but I also like singers like Neil Young and Leonard Cohen, African music, Turkish, Latin American. I could go on ...
Favorite Movies Lately much enjoyed The Artist and The Iron Lady
Favorite Books Much enjoying The Leopard at the moment by Lampedusa and very impressed. Before that Bleak House. Very fond of Salleh Vickers - especially Mr Golightly's Holiday
Favorite Quotations To thine own self be true - my Mum. (Yes, I know - Shakespeare!)
All of us are lying in the gutter but some of us can see the stars - Oscar Wilde
And another - 'I just hear the beat of a different drum.' O.W again
General About Me Originally from UK but now living in The Netherlands. I have three children and two grandchildren, with one more on the way (31 March). I have also lived in Indonesia and Africa. Originally a teacher, I have also been an aromatherapist and, most recently, a translator - Dutch into English in mainly literary non-fiction, academic texts and children's literature. I did a creative writing course with the Open College of the Arts, at the Open University and an Arvon course. All good and a way of bringing structure into my writing. Now I hope to find this by joining up with all of you! I have had one story published - 'Tabetha' in Foreign Flavours. I am a member of a writing group in Amsterdam which is great. Nothing like feedback and encouragement!
