The Basics

My proper name is Rosina Johanna, but I`ve always been known as Jany, just as my mother Rosina was Dady and my cousin Arthur is Bob.We`re a strange family... At school I was one of those pupils who whooped when told to write an essay and usually handed in far more than the required 3 pages - the record stands at 13. Unfortunately I often found the remark "Well done Jany, but you missed the subject" at the bottom in red ink. Have always been a book-worm but only took to writing proper in 2000 when my very first article was published by "Yours", and subsequently two more. I`ve been published in small press mags and anthologies in the US. Mostly humorous or tongue-in-cheek texts. Have also written for "Dolls House and Miniature Scene", Dolls House World" and "American Miniaturist" as my second hobby is making miniature scenes and room boxes.I also draw and paint. Still struggling to get a short story published but I`m confident that with the advice given here I`ll get there one day. I`ve lived in Germany since 1969 (it was just meant to be a holiday job...) but am a half-Dutch Staffordshire lass by birth. Have had all kinds of jobs: chambermaid on a cruise ship on the Rhine, ran an art gallery, dogsbody in a videothek, one-man export department of a firm making changing cubicles, helped sell British goods in Germany in an import firm, worked in a Butterfly Garden, then as a Civil Service employee in a tourist-information office which doubles as the reception area for a Museum of Ornamental Cast Iron. Retired in March 2010.

Yes,Glyn, it is. Mostly 1/12 scale though - I think model railwaying has many more scales. But I do raid the railway stores for "stuff", esp. now I also dabble  in miniature gardens. How big is your train layout? (How many rooms?   )

I love making models for my train layout. Similar methinks to making miniature scenes.
