Angela Williams grew up on a farm in Herefordshire, England. During childhood she was a whizz at local gymkhanas; excelling in the egg & spoon race. Later in life she got serious and began her artistic career by obtaining her degree in visual art, specializing in textiles at Goldsmiths College, the University of London.

In 1986 she moved to Amsterdam and married her Dutch husband. She is an active member of a writers’ circle there and alongside her creative writing has had articles published in publications aimed at the ex-pat community. She also teaches English as a second language.

In 2008 ‘Homecoming’ was shortlisted in the Frome Festival Short Story Competition. In November 2012 she completed a 50,000 word rough draft as part of (nanowrimo). Right now she is procrastinating until 2015 when revision and editing will begin...

Angela's short story Homecoming was a runner up in the Short Story Radio Competition 2008 and has subsequently been recorded for broadcast. Her short story The Feast of the Thaw was broadcast on Short Story Radio in 2007 - 08.

Hi Angela, I also was told that Scheveningen was used as a password in the war by the resistance, because the Germans could not pronounce it properly!

Hi Angela,  Amsterdam is indeed one of my favourite places in this big world, perhaps more home to me than my native London in some ways.  I lived in various quarters, including the Vondel Park area on Koninginesweg (which I don't think I spelt properly), the Jourdaan, Osdorp and right on the Prinsengracht for a couple of years.  My most recent sojourn in Holland was from 2012 to 2014 when I lived in Scheveningen in the Hague while working for the Canadian Embassy there.  I really do love the Netherlands and still have many friends there so hope to visit again.
