Writers Abroad - Membership Criteria

Writers Abroad was formed to help overcome the potential isolation and difficulties that Expat writers may face in their adopted country. Therefore the aim of the group is to provide mutual support via feedback, critiques and editing to enable members to develop their writing skills with a view to further publication including competitions. Also to share any such information regarding calls for submissions, publication opportunities and ‘writing world’ information to benefit co-members. Members will be required to be active and make relevant contributions.

1. Writers Abroad is for Ex-pat, English speaking writers who live away from their 'natural' country. This is therefore a condition of full membership. However, in the future Writers Abroad may develop services for all writers so if you would like to keep informed but do not qualify at present please contact Jo from the contact link on the home page.
2. Members of Writers Abroad must have had at least one published writing piece in any genre, fiction or non-fiction.
3. Members of Writers Abroad will manage their own page on the group website and be responsible for its content.
4. Members of Writers Abroad will actively market the site through their own communication networks, blogs and websites.
5. Members of Writers Abroad will contribute to the development of the group and the website
6. Jo Lamb will undertake the management and administration of the group site, with help from members where available.

Membership Subscription

Membership to Writers Abroad incurs a small annual subscription fee of 6 Euros which is only payable after a free months trial. During this period potential members will be allocated a 'buddy' (an existing Writers Abroad Member) who will help them to find their way around the site and demonstrate the benefits of membership. After the months trial members will be asked to pay the subscription via PayPal in order to extend their membership for 12 months. This subscription is not refundable.

Benefits of Membership

• Membership allows members access to all areas of the site including, blogs, forums and groups. Members will be able to upload work for critique by other WA Members and receive feedback, for Writing Challenges and Monday Muses at no extra charge. They will also be expected in return, to provide feedback on others work. 

• Membership also includes access to the regular on line meetings held via Windows Live Messenger which are usually held twice a month at 2pm CET on Sundays. Details of all activities can be found on the Writers Abroad Planner. 

• Membership gives you access to all other members and additional support can be sought from members outside of Writers Abroad. Members are expected to contribute to the on-going development of the site and will be consulted on changes and additions and are encouraged to make suggestions for improvements.
